Founded in 2023, iRnovate’s mission is to dramatically change the practice of Interventional Radiology with innovations that have a meaningful global clinical impact.

Long frustrated by the available tools and techniques in the field, the founder Dr Kamarjit Mangat began experimenting and his first invention (the Transluminal Biliary Biopsy Forceps) in 2008 has become a key component in managing biliary strictures with reliable access biopsy of tissue within the biliary ductal system. That product was developed in conjunction with Cook Medical and is available in multiple markets around the world using Dr Mangat’s novel ‘cross and push technique’.

The first device the company is bringing to market will alter the trajectory of liver disease with a much safer and more patient-friendly biopsy device. Liver disease impacts 30% of the global population and is expected to rise to 50% by 2050.

Encouraged by that first success, Dr Mangat could see other areas of the field that were ripe for innovation but was also beginning to appreciate the challenges clinical proceduralist-inventors faced bringing ideas to fruition.

The creation of iRnovate coincided with his next invention (the Venous Access Biopsy System or VABS™) and the new company’s goal is to create an ecosystem through which practice-changing innovations could be brought smoothly from idea to successful human trial.

The iRnovate ecosystem brings the critical skills and experience from the clinical, engineering, regulatory, legal and business disciplines, making them available to support ideation and eventual product launch.
